I wanted to post a little about what God is doing in our life lately. He is so amazing! I can not begin to convey in words how much He is doing and all that He is working on! But I will try... God has been working in our marriage SOOO much! Through some issues God decided to put in our marriage after having Seth and then this huge move to Colorado and the financial strain that brought, there has been a lot of pressure on our marriage but God is faithful! I knew going through everything that there was a purpose, there was a reason...I just didn't know what. And I doubt I still do, but I do know that I can see Him working, I can see Him healing, I can see Him being glorified in our marriage and that makes me excited! Praise God! I once read a quote that said something to the effect that God uses marriage almost more than anything as a path to mold you into what He wants you to be! That has stuck with me, if not the exact words, the meaning of them... It makes so much sense; (1) We choose who we marry so we have no excuses, (2) It's a lifetime commitment so there is plenty of time and security to be able to work things out, (3) Our spouse knows us better than anyone alive and has the most powerful ability to either build us up, or tear us down, as do we for them. Given this recipe God has built in a school of learning, discipline, compromise, humility, submission, and so many other things He uses marriage to teach us. I want to encourage anyone of you who read this to make wise choices, to marry for life and to allow God to use that marriage to purify your life! Life is so much more fulfilling and wonderful when we follow God's recipe; wait for marriage to have sex, choose someone who knows and loves God, invest whole heartedly into that marriage without pride and stubbornness (when you feel like pulling back, chances are you should invest more), and just let God be the center of your life and marriage. I heard a sermon the other week (and I may have mentioned this already) that said, stop trying to be better, stop trying to fix yourself and just love Christ! The point of that is, if we focus and love Christ, He will turn our hearts toward our spouse, He will make us better parents, He will change our attitude to be what it needs to be, He will change our lives and free us from the vises that cripple us and hold us down! Along this note of marriage, here is a good site! --> http://www.themarriagebed.com - This is a wonderful site to encourage everyone from teens struggling with questions to adults who need answers! Also, I LOVE and recommend whole heartedly the daily tips (for both men and women) - they are such a nice reminder about little things we can do for our spouse! Another thing I wanted to write about was "what's important"...God used a movie to really move my heart these past few days...Click! - I will recommend it but know that there is a little crude humor and some cussing so it's not for the little ones. But God used this movie to help me reset priorities and show me where my values need to be! I would recommend it but with a warning that it actually made me cry...and I hardly ever do that because of a movie, even on all the mushy chick flicks...but I identified as a father with one of the scenes and it just hit me...hard! Anyway, that's all for now! Oh and the picture is of our little guy on a dock overlooking a lake nearby (in the Summer - currently I'm sure it's frozen over - we saw someone ice fishing this past week on a local lake!)! I put this picture up just because it helps me think about what is important, it helps me take my desires and my wants out of the picture and put my wife's and son's needs and desires ahead of mine. If you have children then you understand why I put that there and maybe even if you don't! Praise God for marriage, and praise Him for children! Be encouraged to be the man or woman of God that you should be today for His glory! -Jed
